Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) is a FREE, 1-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14* PHR is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball and the competition is free of charge for participants. Boys and girls compete separately and participants have the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition including Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game. MLB PHR OVERVIEW PITCH COMPETITION Objective: The PITCH portion of the program will test how accurately a competitor can throw strikes to a designated "Strike Zone" target from a designated distance (35 feet for the girls softball division and 45 feet for the boys baseball division). Any method of underhand/overhand pitching or throwing is accepted. An attempt hitting ANY portion of the target will be deemed a strike. • Each competitor receives six attempts to hit the designated "Strike Zone". • Competitors in the boys division pitch/throw from 45 feet away and the girls division competitors from 35 feet away. • The "Strike Zone" target (17" x 30" banner) reflects a standard MLB strike zone.

PEC's 2012 sectional finalists in Mississauga

Community youth that participated and qualified at the Local Aquafina Pitch Hit and Run Competition that took place May 5th in Wellington, travelled this past Saturday to Mississauga to compete at the Sectional Level. Each Sectional is part of a Major League Baseball team's geographic market. The top 3 scores in each age and gender group among the Sectional All Around Champions within each MLB geographic market advance to the Team Championships.

Prince Edward County Sectional participants were Ryan Erwin, Cameron Pero, Madison Young, Ben Wells, Nick Kirby, Logan Stark, Jacob Doxtator, Jonathon McHugh and Gavin Ronan. Gavin Ronan and Ben Wells placed an impressive 4th place finish in their age and gender groups. Madison Young and Jacob Doxtator were the top winners of the day, each coming home with Silver 2nd Place finishes in their age and gender groups. Well done to all our worthy competitors.
